Defenshield product line on the DHS Authorized Equipment List
September 25th, 2006
Defenshield Inc. has recently updated its listing on the DHS Authorized Equipment List, also known as the Responders Knowledge Base (RKB) www.rkb.mipt.org. This comprehensive database helps state, local and municipal agencies identify and select security products that can be purchased through the DHS Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) and other federal funding programs.
Defenshield produces bullet and blast resistant products that provide enhanced security protection and deterrence for military, government and law enforcement agencies, as well as private sector infrastructure facilities. The company’s lead product – a Mobile Defensive Fighting Position (MDFP) – is currently deployed at entry control points at the Pentagon, on Navy ships, in courthouses, at nuclear facilities, and at Marine bases, including over 400 units deployed in various cities in Iraq, especially throughout Anbar Province. Defenshield MDFP units offer a level of protection that maximizes deterrence and minimizes the chances of attack in terrorist-prone regions of the world, and provide the highest level of protection in a mobile, stand-alone device.
The Defenshield product line is certified to NIJ Level III (assault rifles), NIJ Level IV (30-06 armor piercing), and meets the US State Department Standard 01.01 for resistance to both 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO rounds. “Defenshield units are currently saving lives, have been used in battle, and are an effective tool to harden entry control points and allow return fire from a place of security and safety.” said Collins White, President of Defenshield Inc.
Additional products include a line of ballistic replacement windows for fixed-position guardhouses and hurricane resistant windows designed for military and civilian applications. Hurricane resistant windows have been independently certified to meet FEMA specifications – a 2-by-4 piece of wood traveling at 100 mph.
Products are also available through the GSA Schedule to all federal agencies and state, local, and municipal law enforcement under the Justice Department 1122 program. The GSA Schedule includes Defenshield’s replacement glazing package for the Cadillac/Gage Peacekeeper armored vehicle in use by many law enforcement agencies.
