Defenshield Inc. has been awarded a $2M contract from BAE Systems for its DS-192-P Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions (MDFP) to be deployed in South West Asia in support of the war on terrorism. Deliveries will begin in May and include the ATV mobility option developed especially for use on unimproved and rough surfaces.
The Defenshield MDFP units offer a level of protection that maximizes deterrence and minimize the chances of attack in terrorist-prone regions of the world. Over 100 units are currently deployed at entry control points in various cities in Iraq, especially in the Green Zone.
“The Defenshield units are currently saving lives, have been used in battle, and are an effective tool to harden entry control points and allow return fire from a place of security and safety for our troops,” said Collins White, President of Defenshield Inc. These MDFPs similar to other Defenshield units deployed by the Department of Justice, The Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and civilian agencies, provide the highest level of protection in a mobile, stand-alone device.
The Defenshield product line is certified up to NIJ Level III (assault rifles), NIJ Level IV (30-06 armor piercing), and is certified by the U.S. State Department to Standard 01.01 for resistance to both 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO rounds.
MDFP Units are available through the GSA Schedule to all federal agencies and state, local, and municipal law enforcement under the Justice Department 1122 program. The GSA Schedule also includes Defenshield’s replacement glazing package for the Cadillac/Gage Peacekeeper armored vehicle in use by many law enforcement agencies.
