Defenshield Releases 2018 Company Highlights

April 3rd, 2019

ST AUGUSTINE, FL — Defenshield this week released 2018 highlights in anticipation for its 2019 annual shareholders conference.

“I could not be more thrilled about Defenshield’s growth and support to customers around the world this past year,” said Defenshield President Collins White. “We have the best team in the business and take immense pride in how we partner to protect those who are protecting others. Our Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions or mobile ballistic shields, partitions, Pointman Riot Shields and custom equipment were all in high demand as law enforcement and force protection personnel continue to face unprecedented threats in today’s world.”

Specific 2018 highlights include:

Department of Defense

The Pentagon and several DoD agencies contracted with Defenshield to meet their force protection needs. The Pentagon and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency both respectively selected Defenshield to design, manufacture and install custom ballistic partitions and other key work at critical entry control points. In addition, an intelligence agency acquired over 15 Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions for use at multiple locations.

Recognizing sustained National Stock Number demand, the Defense Logistics Agency purchased over 10 MDFPs which were placed in stock for quick deployment in response to future orders.

U.S. Army

Four major Army installations conducted their independent analysis of their Entry Control Point (ECP) protective measures and acquired a total of 80 Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions for overall effectiveness, durability, and maintainability across a wide spectrum of operating environments.

National Guard

Defenshield continues to be a key partner with the National Guard. The Florida National Guard procured over 15 MDFPs for use at stand-alone locations. In addition, Defenshield engaged with National Guard personnel at over six state conferences plus the National Guard Association of the United States Annual Conference.

U.S. Air Force

Several USAF installations in the United States and Europe acquired over 25 MDFPs for use at ECPs. In addition, heaters were purchased by one installation in a follow-on acquisition to enhance the MDFP’s capabilities and support airmen in fighting the elements.

U.S. Navy

On the west coast, almost twenty MDFPs were purchased and deployed at installations across the region. Naval Station Portsmouth acquired MDFPs for use at their ECPs. The acquisitions were both made via National Stock Numbers, their first use by the Navy.

Transportation

MDFP purchases and deployments were made at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Portland International Airport with custom ballistic equipment acquired by two nuclear plants.

Federal Agencies

The Department of Energy and Department of State (DoS) purchased barrier caps and MDFPs. The DoS acquisition was particularly noted as the MDFPs will be utilized for embassy force protection at high threat locations.

Law Enforcement

The New York City Police Department acquired nearly 100 Pointman Riot Shields, to add to over 1,000 already in use. While in Georgia the Newton County Sheriff’s purchased several MDFPs for courthouse security.

Defenshield Mobile Fighting Positions are saving lives in Iraq

September 13th, 2015

The II Marine Expeditionary Force has ordered additional DS-181-P mobile fighting positions for use during the upcoming Iraqi National Elections and Referendum. Similar units were deployed during the first Iraqi Government Elections in January.

“The Defenshield Mobile Fighting Positions (DS-181-P) are uniquely constructed to provide the protection Marines and Soldiers need in vulnerable locations, while providing excellent visibility of approaching gunmen. These Mobile Fighting Positions have already proven their ability to stop small arms fire while allowing personnel concealed behind them to engage enemy combatants, from a secure position, and eliminate the enemy threat. These items have saved the lives of several Marines that have been fired upon in this part of Iraq.” said Assistant Chief of Staff of Logistics, D.C. Hales, in a request for expedited shipment of the order.

Through a contract valued in excess of $450,000, Defenshield is providing a superior level of protection to US and Iraqi security forces, as well as the Iraqi public. These partitions, similar to other Defenshield units deployed by the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and civilian agencies provide the highest level of protection in a mobile, stand-alone device.

Defenshield announces move to St. Augustine, FL

April 25th, 2014

After an extensive search for the new corporate headquarters of Defenshield its founder and CEO, Collins White, has announced St. Augustine, Florida will be the new home of the company.

Defenshield’s decision came after evaluating a number of cities in the southeast over the past 18 months which included Wilmington, NC, Charleston, SC, Savanah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. St. Augustine’s business climate, less restrictive gun laws, and Florida’s climate were major factors in Defenshield’s decision.

“St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce was tremendously helpful in showing us the business benefits of their county, as well as their state, throughout the entire selection process”, said White. “The company is excited about this move and look forward to contributing to the continued success of commerce in Florida.”

Defenshield’s move to Florida is expected to take place over the next six to twelve months and will maintain an office of three to five employees in the Syracuse area until the transition is complete. The company is expecting to bring 15-20 jobs to St. Augustine.

We would like to give a special thanks to all of the support given from local businesses, government representation, and the communities both in New York and Florida during our transition.

In a judgment issued on January 8, 2014, the Hon. Glenn T. Suddaby of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York ordered that:

First Choice Armor & Equipment, Inc. and D-Back Acquisition Co., their officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys, and all persons in active concert or participation with them who receive actual notice of this judgment by personal service or otherwise, are permanently restrained and enjoined from making, having made, selling, offering for sale, distributing, using, or importing into the United States products that infringe U.S. Patent No 7,849,781, including Defendants’ product referred to the “Rolling Bunker,” until the expiration of U.S. Patent No. 7,849,781

Defenshield’s MDFP is designed to provide troops in hostile environments and entry control points with an area of maximum safety and full visibility. Collins White, President of Defenshield, remarked that “this is a significant victory for Defenshield and affirms that Defenshield is the leader in the design of innovative ballistic protection solutions.”

Defenshield was founded in 2002 in response to the need to protect security personnel in airports after September 11, 2001. The ballistic shield produced to meet this need was the MDFP. Since then, Defenshield MDFP’s have been deployed around the world and are saving the lives of a diverse range of customers including the U.S. Marines, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Naval Observatory, in courthouses, at military bases, on ships, and at nuclear facilities.
